A collision led to Catarinoes FC getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Rui Viegas was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Thanks to some nice moves Carlos Leal could shoot a difficult shot in the 41st minute, which Manuel Barbosa however easily saved by the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by António Matias in the 43rd minute of play forced Lajinhas's goalkeeper Rui Viegas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 47 minutes into the match, Catarinoes FC's goalkeeper Manuel Barbosa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Humberto Branco. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Marco Dantas was the one to do the kick off. Manuel Barbosa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marco Dantas in the 52nd minute of the match. Catarinoes FC's Manuel Barbosa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Leal in the 54th minute of play. After having played for 57 minutes, Marco Dantas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lajinhas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marco Dantas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 60 played minutes Catarinoes FC got a freekick which was hit by Emílio Pedroso. After 62 minutes, Óscar Coelho mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Catarinoes FC and the Lajinhas players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 63 played minutes Catarinoes FC got a freekick which was hit by Óscar Coelho. Rui Viegas made a fantastic save in the 70th minute, when Jorge Ramos sent off a good shot on target. A hard shot 71 in the game by Jorge Ramos from a close distance when the talented Rui Viegas managed to make a qualified save. Lajinhas's players were relieved. When Emílio Pedroso fell near the penalty area in the 77th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Catarinoes FC's protests and gave Emílio Pedroso a yellow card for diving instead. Emílio Pedroso kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. In the 79th minute, Catarinoes FC's Jorge Ramos dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. 85 minutes into the match, Lajinhas's goal looked a bit too open when António Matias came free, but Rui Viegas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 87th minute, Jorge Ramos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rui Viegas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from António Matias, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Lajinhas supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Catarinoes FC's performance. The match ended with a win for Catarinoes FC.
