After 5 minutes, José Marques mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Messejana and the Sanguessuga players grew even worse after the yellow card. But to his dismay, José Marques quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. After having played for 20 minutes, Raul Viana managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sanguessuga's supporters crossed their fingers, but Raul Viana was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If José Marques had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of SC Messejana booed when Sanguessuga was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jorge Macedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. SC Messejana's José Marques got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 35 minutes into the match, Sanguessuga's goal looked a bit too open when André Vieira came free, but Eusébio Nunes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 40th minute, José Marques fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Eusébio Nunes, passed just outside the right post. Heitor Moniz came out of the goal and Eusébio Jesus tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, SC Messejana's Heitor Moniz got control of the ball when Raul Viana tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 60 played minutes SC Messejana got a freekick which was hit by Armando Lisboa.
