One of Ataes FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Pedricosa FC:s goal. António Melo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Armindo Resende in the 14th minute. Manuel Soares charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Manuel Soares the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 17th match minute, Ataes FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Manuel Soares to maneuver through the defense. If Jacinto Lisboa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Ricardo Barbosa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Ricardo Barbosa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 32nd match minute, Pedricosa FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lourenço Cabral to maneuver through the defense. If Armindo Resende had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Ricardo Barbosa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but António Melo was relentless in the 46th minute of the game. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ricardo Barbosa was the one to do the kick off. The referee ignored Pedricosa FC's protests and gave Jorge Nascimento a yellow card for diving instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ricardo Barbosa in the 67th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg António Melo saved Pedricosa FC from getting behind. Pedricosa FC's António Melo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Armindo Resende in the 71st minute of play. Pedro Gaspar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from David Costa, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. Jacinto Lisboa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but Pedro Gaspar made a huge save. After a defensive mix-up in Ataes FC's zone, David Costa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedro Gaspar came out of the goal and David Costa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Pedricosa FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
