The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. SC Bencatel's Vítor Lopes got a good chance for a goal in the 10th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 18th minute of the match Joaquim Faria sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nuno Freitas skillfully saved the ball. Samouco FC's Nuno Freitas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Henrique Resende in the 20th minute of play. André Brito who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 22ndth minute tested the skills of Gaspar Freitas when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 30 minutes into the match, SC Bencatel's Joel Cruz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nuno Freitas narrowly saved just below the crossbar. José Viegas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gaspar Freitas having to interfere. In the 35th minute Joel Cruz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nuno Freitas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 37th minute, José Viegas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Samouco FC's Manuel Borges got a free kick in the 42nd minute.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Joel Cruz to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Samouco FC's André Brito sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gaspar Freitas narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Delfim Pinto kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Garcia in the 58th minute of play forced SC Bencatel's goalkeeper Gaspar Freitas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gaspar Freitas guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. Nuno Freitas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Cruz in the 74th minute of play. When André Coimbra fell near the penalty area in the 86th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick.
