Sebastião Morais stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sebastião Jesus's shot from short distance in the 7th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rui Dias got free with Jacinto Azevedo in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Carlos Brito had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Murganhal FC's Carlos Brito got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 26 minutes into the match, Rui Dias had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jacinto Azevedo. SC Gateira's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rui Dias was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Sebastião Jesus recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Murganhal FC's Sebastião Morais played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sebastião Jesus in the 42nd minute of play. If Sebastião Jesus had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 47 minutes into the match, Murganhal FC's goal looked a bit too open when Hélder Vale came free, but Sebastião Morais reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hélder Vale was the one to do the kick off. Hélder Vale fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sebastião Morais having to interfere. Jacinto Azevedo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Carlos Brito's shot from short distance in the 56th minute. The supporters of Murganhal FC booed when SC Gateira was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Viriato Faria didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in SC Gateira's zone, Rui Dias stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jacinto Azevedo came out of the goal and Rui Dias tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the match clock showed 69 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Carlos Brito sped through SC Gateira's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Jacinto Azevedo. After having played for 84 minutes, Hélder Vale managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Gateira's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hélder Vale was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Carlos Brito sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jacinto Azevedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Brito in the 90th minute of the match. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Murganhal FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while SC Gateira had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
