After having played for 7 minutes, Cláudio Leal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Esquio's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cláudio Leal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 8 minutes into the game, Bento Pires was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Galvana FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SC Esquio the free kick. After a rather tough play, Galvana FC's Bento Pires got a free kick in the 8th minute. Afonso Pedroso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Joaquim Rodrigues tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bruno Dias charged in rather forcefully in the 13th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bruno Dias the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Cláudio Leal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manuel Reis having to interfere. During the 32nd minute of the match Bruno Dias completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Bruno Dias a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The supporters of Galvana FC booed when SC Esquio was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bruno Dias didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rui Sousa charged in rather forcefully in the 36th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rui Sousa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 35th minute, one of Galvana FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Galvana FC. Fábio Teixeira scored 0-1 in the 37th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Manuel Reis, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Galvana FC's Manuel Reis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cláudio Leal in the 41st minute of play. Galvana FC's Afonso Pedroso got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 48 minutes had been played when some careless play by Galvana FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Fábio Teixeira was slow to take the kick. During this time SC Esquio's players had a chance to rest. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Galvana FC's goalie and right to Luís Cruz. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Galvana FC's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Cláudio Leal to strike the kick off in the second half. Gaspar Alves charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gaspar Alves the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 57th match minute, SC Esquio was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luís Cruz to maneuver through the defense. In the 60th minute, Joaquim Fernandes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Galvana FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Joaquim Rodrigues made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bento Pires in the 65th minute of play. SC Esquio's Joaquim Rodrigues played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joaquim Fernandes in the 66th minute of play. Cláudio Leal struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Manuel Reis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Esquio. Luís Cruz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manuel Reis having to interfere. If Fernando Rocha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Joaquim Fernandes, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 81 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Joaquim Rodrigues was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Afonso Pedroso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquim Rodrigues having to interfere. The supporters of Galvana FC booed when SC Esquio was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís Cruz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rafael Amorim took the ball and in the 97 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Manuel Reis. Manuel Reis dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
