The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 3 minutes, Domingos Carneiro made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Franzina's Joaquim Moutinho tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Franzina's Rui Marques got a good chance for a goal in the 6th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cristiano Tavares's late challenge caught a Franzina's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cristiano Tavares helped the player get up and apologised. In the 11th minute, Manuel Pedroso made a precise shot to the right of Joaquim Moutinho. Franzina's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Domingos Carneiro in the 15th minute of play forced Franzina's goalkeeper Joaquim Moutinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rui Marques fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nuno Fontes having to interfere. Joaquim Moutinho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manuel Pedroso in the 24th minute of the match. Rui Marques recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Joaquim Ramos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Franzina booed when Pontinhas FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gustavo Sousa didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 31st minute Rui Marques shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nuno Fontes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 33 played minutes Franzina got a freekick which was hit by Rui Marques. Manuel Pedroso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Joaquim Moutinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rui Marques in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nuno Fontes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Pontinhas FC booed when Franzina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fernando Costa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Joaquim Ramos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Manuel Pedroso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquim Moutinho having to interfere.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Domingos Carneiro was the one to do the kick off. If Manuel Pedroso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Domingos Carneiro was extremely unlucky when he, in the 55th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. After having played for 61 minutes, Domingos Carneiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pontinhas FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Domingos Carneiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Franzina's Joaquim Moutinho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Domingos Carneiro in the 68th minute of play. Nuno Fontes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joaquim Ramos, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. Cristiano Tavares was shown his second yellow card after 73 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 74th match minute, Pontinhas FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristiano Tavares to maneuver through the defense. If Manuel Pedroso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Pontinhas FC booed when Franzina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rui Soares didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nuno Fontes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rui Marques in the 88th minute of play. When Joaquim Ramos came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Franzina fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joaquim Ramos couldn't finish the play. The Pontinhas FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
