The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Rui Pacheco's late challenge caught a Padela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sérgio Campos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Hélder Guerreiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tiago Machado having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sérgio Carvalho in the 20th minute of play forced Padela's goalkeeper Tiago Machado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cristiano Branco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernando Sá having to interfere. 29 minutes into the match, SC Balugaes's goalkeeper Fernando Sá had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sérgio Campos. In the 38th match minute, SC Balugaes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hélder Castro to maneuver through the defense. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cristiano Branco made a kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hélder Castro during the 51st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Hélder Guerreiro was extremely unlucky when he, in the 97th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Padela's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
