Joaquim Lopes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rui Santarém, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 16 minutes had been played when some careless play by Grou FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Ricardo Anjos was slow to take the kick. During this time Ebora's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Manuel Sá got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Joaquim Lopes quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers João Pires in the 24th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Joaquim Lopes saved Grou FC from getting behind. If Rodrigo Esteves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Ebora getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Nuno Reis hit a great ball. In the 40th minute, Gil Morais sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Ebora's André Ribeiro didn't even have to move. Rui Santarém hit a great freekick 48 minutes into the match. André Ribeiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from António Abreu in the 49th minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rodrigo Esteves to make the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when João Pires got free with Joaquim Lopes in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Grou FC's Joaquim Lopes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 58th minute of the match, managed to save Grou FC from getting a goal against them.
