Bernardo Melo's late challenge caught a Menexas FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bernardo Melo helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Polima FC's Bernardo Melo got a free kick in the 9th minute. Daniel Delgado recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Menexas FC's zone, Bernardo Melo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hélder Aguiar came out of the goal and Bernardo Melo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 16 minutes into the match, Polima FC's goal looked a bit too open when Cristiano Macedo came free, but Joaquim Gueifão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 16 minutes, João Veiga mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Polima FC and the Menexas FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. João Veiga hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. Cristiano Macedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquim Gueifão having to interfere. When João Mendes came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Polima FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that João Mendes couldn't finish the play. Hélder Aguiar stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Bernardo Melo's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. Armando Anjos hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Menexas FC's zone, João Mendes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hélder Aguiar came out of the goal and João Mendes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 47 minutes into the game, Bernardo Melo recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Hélder Aguiar. Bernardo Melo showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bernardo Melo made a kick off. Hélder Aguiar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Mendes, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. In the 56th minute, Amadeu Paredes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 57 played minutes, Polima FC's Gil Teixeira shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Hélder Aguiar came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Polima FC reached it. A collision led to Menexas FC getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Fernando Dias hit a great ball. João Mendes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 63rd minute Bernardo Melo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hélder Aguiar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 65 minutes, Daniel Delgado managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Menexas FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Delgado was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Paulo Pereira fell near the penalty area in the 67th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Polima FC's protests and gave Paulo Pereira a yellow card for diving instead. In the 68th match minute, Polima FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Paulo Pereira to maneuver through the defense. 71 minutes into the match, Menexas FC's goal looked a bit too open when Bernardo Melo came free, but Hélder Aguiar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Daniel Delgado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquim Gueifão having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Heitor Rocha in the 88th minute of play forced Menexas FC's goalkeeper Hélder Aguiar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Daniel Delgado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquim Gueifão having to interfere. Joaquim Gueifão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Delgado in the 94th minute of play. Heitor Rocha hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. Américo Pinheiro charged in rather forcefully in the 96th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Américo Pinheiro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Menexas FC getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Américo Pinheiro hit a great ball. Polima FC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Menexas FC for a fine match.
