In the 4th minute of the match Alexandre Ribeiro sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Delfim Pires skillfully saved the ball. Carlos Porto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Delfim Pires having to interfere. Fontelo's Manuel Sousa got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Manuel Sousa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Delfim Pires tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 17 minutes into the game, Lourenço Pedroso was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Favais's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fontelo the free kick. In the 18th minute, Lourenço Pedroso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Favais's zone, Luís Cardoso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Delfim Pires came out of the goal and Luís Cardoso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Basílio Nogueira blasted a shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jorge Castro having to make a save. After 29 minutes, Carlos Porto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Fontelo and the Favais players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Fontelo's Carlos Porto got a free kick in the 29th minute. In the 30th minute of the match Sérgio Dias sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jorge Castro skillfully saved the ball. When Fernando Rocha fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Fontelo's protests and gave Fernando Rocha a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Fontelo getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Fernando Rocha hit a great ball. Basílio Nogueira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Jorge Castro made a huge save. When Luís Cardoso came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Fontelo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luís Cardoso couldn't finish the play. Luís Cardoso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Delfim Pires showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luís Cardoso in the 39th minute of the match. Luís Cardoso might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Delfim Pires. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Luís Cardoso ran back to his position shaking his head. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luís Cardoso was the one to do the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gil Pinheiro during the 54th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Fontelo booed when Favais was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gil Pinheiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Basílio Nogueira in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jorge Castro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 61stth minute of the game Basílio Nogueira who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Fontelo's Jorge Castro was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Basílio Nogueira struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Jorge Castro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Favais. 67 minutes into the match, Favais's goalkeeper Delfim Pires had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Manuel Sousa. Luís Cardoso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Delfim Pires having to interfere. An unexpected shot in the 74th minute by Manuel Sousa got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Fernando Rocha was shown his second yellow card after 76 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. The supporters of Favais booed when Fontelo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fernando Rocha didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 84th minute, Luís Cardoso managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fontelo's supporters rose to their feet, but Luís Cardoso was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Delfim Pires breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Manuel Sousa came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Fontelo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Manuel Sousa couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Favais's Delfim Pires got control of the ball when Manuel Sousa tried to sneak it across the goal line. Delfim Pires made an important save on a dangerous shot by Manuel Sousa in the 93rd minute. If Carlos Porto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fontelo's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Favais had won, even though Fontelo had held more of the ball.
