After 45 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for SC Rale! The goalkeeper, Manuel Branco, was totally fooled by Quelfes FC's João Tavares, who 47 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Paulo Trindade stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When José Paiva came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the Quelfes FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that José Paiva couldn't finish the play. Álvaro Morais hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. The referee gave SC Rale a penalty, 92 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Inácio Paredes, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Quelfes FC's André Araújo. 2-4. After having played for 95 minutes, Paulo Trindade managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Rale's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paulo Trindade was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jorge Setúbal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Manuel Branco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jorge Setúbal in the 99th minute of play. The SC Rale players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
