Lourenço Ferreira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Albertino Leite having to interfere. A collision led to Carrapatelo getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Lourenço Ferreira hit a great ball. In the 14th minute, Emanuel Correia fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Albertino Leite, passed just outside the right post. Bento Leão blasted a shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mariano Moreira having to make a save. When Joaquim Gueifão fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Merelo's protests and gave Joaquim Gueifão a yellow card for diving instead. In the 20th match minute, SC Merelo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joaquim Gueifão to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Rogério Matos managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Merelo's supporters rose to their feet, but Rogério Matos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mariano Moreira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Bento Leão struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Mariano Moreira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Merelo. The supporters of Carrapatelo booed when SC Merelo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joaquim Gueifão didn't get a good kick on the ball. Emanuel Correia struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Albertino Leite didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Carrapatelo. If Rogério Matos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luís Cruz charged in rather forcefully in the 43rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Luís Cruz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Carrapatelo's Luís Cruz got a free kick in the 43rd minute. Rogério Matos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Emanuel Correia to make the kick off. Mariano Moreira made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bento Leão in the 58th minute. Luís Cruz got his second yellow card in the match during the 58th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Luís Cruz hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Óscar Silva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 68th minute of the game. One of SC Merelo:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Carrapatelo:s goal. The referee gave Carrapatelo a penalty, 70 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Filipe Aleixo, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of SC Merelo's Albertino Leite. 1-0. Bento Leão received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Mariano Moreira came out and tried to block the shot, but Bento Leão slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 75th minute. In the 80th minute the ball was on its way in behind Carrapatelo's goalkeeper Mariano Moreira, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Filipe Aleixo in the 84th minute of play forced SC Merelo's goalkeeper Albertino Leite to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mariano Moreira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bento Leão in the 90th minute of play. Óscar Silva scored 2-1 in the 91st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Albertino Leite, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Carrapatelo fans cheered their team off the field, for while SC Merelo had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
