After a defensive mix-up in SC Fregim's zone, Amílcar Moniz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. André Pinto came out of the goal and Amílcar Moniz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Mendonca FC booed when SC Fregim was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. David Moutinho didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Amílcar Moniz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mendonca FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Amílcar Moniz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. André Pinto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. André Pinto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amílcar Moniz in the 20th minute of play. The tension between the SC Fregim and the Mendonca FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, SC Fregim's Alexandre Setúbal got a free kick in the 38th minute. When Vítor Mendes came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Mendonca FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vítor Mendes couldn't finish the play. Amílcar Moniz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. André Pinto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Sebastião Matias fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Fregim's protests and gave Sebastião Matias a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to SC Fregim getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Sebastião Matias hit a great ball. André Pinto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amílcar Moniz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 46th minute, Alexandre Setúbal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ricardo Gonçalves to strike the kick off in the second half. After 55 minutes, Vítor Mendes made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. SC Fregim's André Pinto tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 58 minutes into the match, SC Fregim's goalkeeper André Pinto had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Vítor Mendes. 66 minutes into the match, Ricardo Gonçalves notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Mendonca FC's Armindo Assis. Armindo Assis was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. With an all-out effort, Mendonca FC's André Pinto threw himself towards the right post 83 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Amílcar Moniz, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 84 minutes into the match, Vítor Mendes notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of SC Fregim's André Pinto. André Pinto was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. André Pinto made a fantastic save in the 89th minute, when Vítor Mendes sent off a good shot on target. After 90 minutes of play SC Fregim's David Moutinho was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The supporters of Mendonca FC booed when SC Fregim was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. David Moutinho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Amílcar Moniz was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 92nd minute. Mendonca FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. In the 93rd minute, Ricardo Gonçalves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Amílcar Moniz in the 95th minute of play forced SC Fregim's goalkeeper André Pinto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Mendonca FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
