The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Lourenço Sá was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 9th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Diogo Abreu. Joel Soares kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. Cândido Borba might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Lourenço Sá. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. After 22 played minutes Luz FC got a freekick which was hit by Cristiano Leiria. 23 minutes into the game, Vítor Nascimento was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Luz FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sequeade FC the free kick. Eduardo Figueiredo came out of the goal in the 25th minute to try and stop a shot by Luz FC's Rodrigo Pinho. But to his dismay, Rodrigo Pinho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. After having played for 31 minutes, Cândido Borba managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sequeade FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cândido Borba was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lourenço Sá made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gaspar Sousa in the 32nd minute of play. Joel Soares hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. If Gaspar Sousa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpected shot in the 38th minute by Gaspar Sousa got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 40th minute, Jaime Guerreiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Vítor Nascimento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eduardo Figueiredo having to interfere. 48 minutes into the match, Luz FC's Rodrigo Pinho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eduardo Figueiredo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rodrigo Pinho to strike the kick off in the second half. If Rodrigo Pinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. In the 65th match minute, Luz FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jaime Guerreiro to maneuver through the defense. Sequeade FC's Eduardo Figueiredo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Sequeade FC from getting a goal against them. Vítor Nascimento who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 81stth minute tested the skills of Eduardo Figueiredo when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 85th minute Cândido Borba shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lourenço Sá saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sequeade FC's Cândido Borba got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 93rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Luz FC's goalkeeper Lourenço Sá, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Gaspar Sousa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lourenço Sá having to interfere. Luz FC succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Sequeade FC had controlled the match.
