To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Afonso Borges made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 14thth minute coming free in front of the goal, but José Correia would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. When Afonso Borges came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the SC Quimbres fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Afonso Borges couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Afonso Borges got free with José Correia in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Afonso Borges fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Correia having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alexandre Soares in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Manuel Coelho saved SC Quimbres from getting behind. Xavier Monteiro hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Lúcio Sousa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Manuel Coelho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In a very dangerous position, a player in SC Quimbres fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 32nd minute. Penalty! When Afonso Borges came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the SC Quimbres fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Afonso Borges couldn't finish the play. In the 39th minute Alexandre Soares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manuel Coelho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Afonso Borgess short, quick shot in the 40thth minute got José Correia to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Lúcio Sousa was the one to do the kick off. Bernardo Ramos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. José Correia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 82nd minute, Afonso Borges hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. José Correia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Afonso Borges, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. In the 96th minute, Lúcio Sousa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
