After 18 played minutes SC Bucos got a freekick which was hit by Óscar Vaz. Oliveira Martins was extremely unlucky when he, in the 22nd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 23rd minute, Adolfo Veiga made a precise shot to the right of Emílio Anjos. Contige's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. In the 28th minute Cláudio Cabral suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. Contige's Emílio Anjos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adolfo Veiga in the 35th minute of play. A collision led to Contige getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Armindo Correia hit a great ball. In the 41st minute, André Torres hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match had gone on for 42 minutes, Afonso Carvalho took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Amílcar Cruz to make any attempt to save it. When Américo Coelho fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Bucos's protests and gave Américo Coelho a yellow card for diving instead. Américo Coelho hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. David Henriques was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 46th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal.

Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
