The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Pedro Paiva kicked well hit freekick during the 2nd minute of the match. In the 7th minute, Bernardo Reis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Carlos Torres took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bernardo Reis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match clock showed 11 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Ricardo Teixeira sped through Cativelos's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Fernando Dias. After 14 played minutes SC Regedoura got a freekick which was hit by Gonçalo Branco. If António Jesus had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 17th match minute, Cativelos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gaspar Cunha to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, SC Regedoura's Carlos Torres got control of the ball when Cláudio Cruz tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Bernardo Reis managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cativelos's supporters rose to their feet, but Bernardo Reis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carlos Torres breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Cláudio Cruz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Carlos Torres read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. If Bernardo Reis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carlos Torres showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bernardo Reis in the 31st minute of the match. Cativelos's Fernando Dias played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ricardo Teixeira in the 32nd minute of play. 33 minutes into the match, SC Regedoura's António Jesus sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fernando Dias narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ricardo Teixeira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernando Dias having to interfere. Cativelos's Cláudio Cruz got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Bernardo Reis made the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the game, Ricardo Teixeira cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Fernando Dias was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience was convinced that Ricardo Teixeira's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Fernando Dias was relentless in the 57th minute of the game. In the 58th minute the ball was on its way in behind SC Regedoura's goalkeeper Carlos Torres, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Ricardo Teixeira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Fernando Dias tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, António Jesus managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Regedoura's supporters rose to their feet, but António Jesus was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fernando Dias breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If António Jesus had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to SC Regedoura getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. António Jesus hit a great ball. Bernardo Reis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Torres having to interfere. SC Regedoura's Ricardo Teixeira got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 91st minute, António Jesus got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. SC Regedoura walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
