Paulo Porto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Manuel Santos kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. Paulo Porto came out of the goal in the 4th minute to try and stop a shot by Caxias FC's Ricardo Carvalho. But to his dismay, Ricardo Carvalho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After a rather tough play, Caxias FC's Manuel Silva got a free kick in the 15th minute. Paulo Porto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ricardo Carvalho in the 18th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nuno Viana during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 25 minutes into the match, Caxias FC's goalkeeper Abel Sá had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Diogo Pinto. Paulo Porto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ricardo Carvalho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jorge Assis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Ricardo Carvalho came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Caxias FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ricardo Carvalho couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Diogo Pinto got free with Abel Sá in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ricardo Carvalho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ricardo Carvalho made a kick off. When Lucas Nunes fell near the penalty area in the 53rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Caxias FC's protests and gave Lucas Nunes a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Caxias FC getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Lucas Nunes hit a great ball. After 54 minutes, Diogo Pinto made it 2-1 with a short kick to the right side. Caxias FC's Abel Sá tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. When Jorge Vale came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Caparrosa FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jorge Vale couldn't finish the play. Ricardo Carvalho hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Vasco Simões fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulo Porto having to interfere. Luís Melo charged in rather forcefully in the 65th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Luís Melo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Caxias FC booed when Caparrosa FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís Melo didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vasco Simões got free with Paulo Porto in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Diogo Pinto might have been able to make a better finish in the 85th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Abel Sá. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Diogo Pinto ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Caxias FC booed when Caparrosa FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Abel Campos didn't get a good kick on the ball. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Caparrosa FC were victorious despite being under pressure from Caxias FC for much of the match.
