In the 43rd minute of the match Gabriel Magalhães sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Carlos Henriques skillfully saved the ball. José Torres fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernando Costa having to interfere. In the 47th minute, SC Vairao's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Simão Santos fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After the first half SC Vairao were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Carlos Henriques showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eusébio Lopes in the 57th minute of the match. Carlos Henriques made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eusébio Lopes in the 61st minute of play. José Torres's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fernando Costa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 66th minute of play. If Delfim Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 81 minutes into the match, Cicouro's goal looked a bit too open when Eusébio Lopes came free, but Carlos Henriques reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eusébio Lopes might have been able to make a better finish in the 85th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Carlos Henriques. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eusébio Lopes ran back to his position shaking his head. A collision led to SC Vairao getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Gabriel Magalhães hit a great ball. Simão Santos struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Fernando Costa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cicouro. After a rather tough play, SC Vairao's Francisco Macedo got a free kick in the 97th minute.
