Luís Silva recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Óscar Leão was a little too slow when Luís Silva got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 10th minute. The score was now 1-0. Óscar Leão showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luís Silva, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. After a rather tough play, Paranhas's Henrique Assunção got a free kick in the 16th minute. Joaquim Baptista in the 17thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Óscar Leão, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 19th minute, Joaquim Baptista reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Óscar Leão. The goal made the score 2-0. Amílcar Fontes's late challenge caught a Paranhas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Amílcar Fontes helped the player get up and apologised. In the 23rd minute of the match Eduardo Dias sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Eusébio Abreu skillfully saved the ball. Alexandre Pinho hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. SC Melo's Eusébio Abreu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mário Cardoso in the 31st minute of play. Alexandre Pinho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Eusébio Abreu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Alexandre Pinho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Eusébio Abreu was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. When Joaquim Baptista came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the SC Melo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joaquim Baptista couldn't finish the play. Joaquim Baptista's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Óscar Leão read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Armindo Paiva might have been able to make a better finish in the 52nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Eusébio Abreu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Armindo Paiva ran back to his position shaking his head. Amílcar Fontes kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. Eusébio Abreu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mário Cardoso's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. In the 56th match minute, SC Melo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luís Silva to maneuver through the defense. In the 58th minute, Joaquim Baptista hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eusébio Abreu had great luck who in the 59thth minute grab hold of the ball when Mário Cardoso from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. Paranhas were awarded a corner in the 62th minute after SC Melo's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Eduardo Dias took the corner. After a defensive mix-up in SC Melo's zone, Mário Cardoso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eusébio Abreu came out of the goal and Mário Cardoso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Paranhas booed when SC Melo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Assis didn't get a good kick on the ball. SC Melo's Eusébio Abreu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mário Cardoso in the 66th minute of play. If Mário Cardoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Mário Cardoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 88th minute, Luís Silva hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Óscar Leão took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joaquim Baptista, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. For all the effort they put into the match, the Paranhas players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for SC Melo.
