To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lucas Paredes hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Miguel Valente struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Júlio Faro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vieiras. The supporters of SC Lufrei booed when Vieiras was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Miguel Valente didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 28 played minutes Vieiras got a freekick which was hit by Afonso Porto. If Júlio Resende had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 42 minutes into the match, SC Lufrei's goal looked a bit too open when Miguel Valente came free, but Júlio Faro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 47 minutes into the game, SC Lufrei's Gil Rodrigues nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mário Luz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

After 82 played minutes SC Lufrei got a freekick which was hit by Xavier Lopes. Lúcio Leite's late challenge caught a Vieiras's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain.
