Francisco Pinheiro started the match with the kick off. The supporters of Maroufenha booed when Valqueira FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Óscar Lopes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Óscar Lopes's late challenge caught a Maroufenha's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Óscar Lopes helped the player get up and apologised. After 6 played minutes Valqueira FC got a freekick which was hit by Óscar Lopes. In the 8th minute Francisco Pinheiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cândido Assunção saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 11 minutes into the match, Valqueira FC's goal looked a bit too open when Mário Paredes came free, but Cândido Assunção reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Maroufenha's Rafael Rocha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gil Moutinho in the 15th minute of play. Mário Paredes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cândido Assunção having to interfere. Rafael Rocha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gil Moutinho in the 30th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Francisco Pinheiro in the 31st minute of play forced Valqueira FC's goalkeeper Cândido Assunção to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Filipe Dias got free with Rafael Rocha in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Gil Moutinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Filipe Dias ran back to his position shaking his head. Gil Moutinho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rafael Rocha having to make a save. Mário Paredes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Cândido Assunção tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gil Moutinho stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Maroufenha's Rafael Rocha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gil Moutinho in the 52nd minute of play. After 54 minutes, José Delgado mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Maroufenha and the Valqueira FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 53rd minute of the game. One of Maroufenha:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Valqueira FC:s goal. After a rather tough play, Valqueira FC's Vasco Brito got a free kick in the 58th minute. Mário Paredes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. José Delgado hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Maroufenha defense, Gil Moutinho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rafael Rocha. The Maroufenha fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rafael Rocha should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Valqueira FC getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Daniel Rodrigues hit a great ball. 72 minutes into the match, Maroufenha's Marco Santos broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Cândido Assunção showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Francisco Pinheiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Francisco Pinheiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cândido Assunção took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Francisco Pinheiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mário Paredes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Cândido Assunção tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. For all the effort they put into the match, the Maroufenha players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Valqueira FC.
