Vítor Simões went to the wrong direction when Bento Reis was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Rodrigo Gomes managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Merlaes's supporters rose to their feet, but Rodrigo Gomes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bruno Amorim breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. SC Merlaes's André Aleixo got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Jorge Silva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 40th minute Filipe Pinto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vítor Simões saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Filipe Pinto in the 42nd minute of play forced SC Merlaes's goalkeeper Vítor Simões to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bruno Amorim didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Rodrigo Gomes went, in the 45th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Filipe Pinto stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. André Aleixo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Bruno Amorim made a huge save. When Jorge Silva came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the SC Cardiellos fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jorge Silva couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when André Aleixo got free with Bruno Amorim in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Rodrigo Gomes received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Bruno Amorim came out and tried to block the shot, but Rodrigo Gomes slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 65th minute. 71 minutes into the game, SC Cardiellos's Filipe Pinto nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Vítor Simões made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. SC Cardiellos's Bruno Amorim proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 94th minute of the match, managed to save SC Cardiellos from getting a goal against them. Diamantino Ribeiro kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match.
