The audience thought a goal was coming when Paulo Nunes got free with José Pinto in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Marcelim FC getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Miguel Aguiar hit a great ball. Alfredo Porto was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 21st played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. When Armindo Lisboa fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Marcelim FC's protests and gave Armindo Lisboa a yellow card for diving instead. In the 22nd minute, Armindo Lisboa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Paulo Mendes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. José Pinto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. João Assis struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Afonso Fonseca didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Arrochela. Afonso Fonseca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfredo Martins in the 33rd minute of play. Alfredo Martins fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Afonso Fonseca having to interfere. When Alfredo Martins came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Arrochela fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alfredo Martins couldn't finish the play. Alfredo Martins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when João Assis made the kick off in the second half. Paulo Mendes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. When João Assis came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Arrochela fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that João Assis couldn't finish the play. 77 minutes into the match, Paulo Mendes notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Arrochela's José Pinto. José Pinto was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Alfredo Martins managed to get in a good position for a shot. Arrochela's supporters rose to their feet, but Alfredo Martins was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Afonso Fonseca breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience was convinced that Paulo Mendes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but José Pinto was relentless in the 92nd minute of the game. 99 minutes into the match, Alfredo Porto sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Afonso Fonseca threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Alfredo Porto this time.
