Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Cavaco FC's Emanuel Pires in the 6th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Jacinto Esteves was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for SC Cardeal through an amazing save. Joaquim Paredes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Eduardo Fonseca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Cavaco FC defense, Manuel Ferreira kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Eduardo Fonseca. The Cavaco FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Eduardo Fonseca should have stopped the shot. Carlos Guarda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacinto Esteves having to interfere. Vicente Matos's late challenge caught a SC Cardeal's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vicente Matos helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Cavaco FC getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Vicente Matos hit a great ball. After 25 played minutes SC Cardeal got a freekick which was hit by Tomás Gaspar. SC Cardeal's Joaquim Paredes got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Eduardo Fonseca took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joaquim Paredes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 34 minutes into the match, Cavaco FC's goal looked a bit too open when Manuel Ferreira came free, but Eduardo Fonseca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. SC Cardeal's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
