He was immediately shown a red card. 24 minutes into the game, one of SC Rechaldia:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Fábio Neves charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fábio Neves the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of SC Roem booed when SC Rechaldia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fábio Neves didn't get a good kick on the ball. António Fonseca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Fernando Veiga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If António Fonseca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and André Neves made a kick off. After a rather tough play, SC Rechaldia's Alexandre Veiga got a free kick in the 51st minute. António Fonseca recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 59th minute, António Fonseca got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 59 minutes into the game, SC Roem's Bento Borges nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Fernando Veiga made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. If António Fonseca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
