The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Ricardo Resende left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ribeirinha fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. If Mário Pires had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 12th minute Luís Monteiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manuel Santarém saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 19 minutes into the game, Miguel Abreu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ribeirinha's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Endiabrada FC the free kick. After 18 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Ribeirinha! In the 20th minute there was a penalty for Endiabrada FC. Ricardo Neves stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Américo Henriques. 1-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luís Monteiro in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Manuel Santarém saved Endiabrada FC from getting behind. Ricardo Resende received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Manuel Santarém tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luís Monteiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manuel Santarém having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Luís Monteiro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ribeirinha's supporters rose to their feet, but Luís Monteiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Manuel Santarém breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Manuel Santarém made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ricardo Resende in the 34th minute. When Luís Monteiro came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Ribeirinha fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luís Monteiro couldn't finish the play. Endiabrada FC's Manuel Santarém proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to save Endiabrada FC from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ricardo Resende got free with Manuel Santarém in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Ribeirinha's Rogério Almeida got a free kick in the 47th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luís Monteiro made a kick off. The audience was convinced that Luís Monteiro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Manuel Santarém was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. A collision led to Endiabrada FC getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Cristiano Azevedo hit a great ball. In the 61st match minute, Endiabrada FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vítor Machado to maneuver through the defense. Manuel Santarém took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ricardo Resende, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Cristiano Azevedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Ricardo Resende fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manuel Santarém having to interfere. Ribeirinha's Ricardo Resende got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ribeirinha's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
