The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Fábio Sousa during the 21st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. When Ruivos's Diogo Vaz in the 25th minute got a chance for a shot 25th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Ruivos's Lúcio Ferro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Ruivos from getting a goal against them. Paulo Amorim kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Lúcio Ferro was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Nuno Dantas. Lúcio Ferro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jorge Andrade, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. During the 36th minute of the match Fábio Sousa completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Fábio Sousa a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 37th match minute, Ruivos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fábio Sousa to maneuver through the defense. SC Abunheira's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Nuno Dantas in the 40th minute. The corner led SC Abunheira's Nuno Dantas to fire away a dangerous shot which Lúcio Ferro despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Paulo Amorim hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jorge Andrade in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lúcio Ferro saved Ruivos from getting behind. João Soares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Diamantino Luz struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Gil Vaz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ruivos. Gil Vaz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Artur Santos in the 57th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by João Soares in the 59th minute of play forced Ruivos's goalkeeper Lúcio Ferro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. João Soares recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lúcio Ferro didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from João Soares went, in the 64th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. In the 67th minute, João Soares made a precise shot to the right of Lúcio Ferro. Ruivos's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jorge Andrade in the 71st minute of play forced Ruivos's goalkeeper Lúcio Ferro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Artur Santos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Humberto Setúbal's late challenge caught a SC Abunheira's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Humberto Setúbal helped the player get up and apologised. In the 78th minute, Humberto Setúbal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 80 minutes, João Soares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Abunheira's supporters crossed their fingers, but João Soares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 91 minutes, Diogo Vaz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ruivos and the SC Abunheira players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The SC Abunheira fans cheered their team off the field, for while Ruivos had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
