The referee felt a red card was in order, 17 minutes into the game, when Afonso Melo put in a rough tackle. In the 17th minute, one of Oca FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Oca FC. Oca FC's Jorge Leite proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save Oca FC from getting a goal against them. Bento Carneiro hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Oca FC's zone, Afonso Valente stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jorge Leite came out of the goal and Afonso Valente tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vasco Assis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Cláudio Pinho during the 45th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Vasco Assis made a kick off. Jorge Leite showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Afonso Valente in the 51st minute of the match. Bufinha's Luís Nunes got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Vasco Assis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Luís Nunes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Vasco Assis managed to get in a good position for a shot. Oca FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Vasco Assis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Manuel Campos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
