André Ferreira charged in rather forcefully in the 2nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed André Ferreira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. When Pedro Ribeiro came up free with the goalie in the 5th minute, the Carqueijal FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pedro Ribeiro couldn't finish the play. Mário Paiva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedro Ribeiro in the 7th minute of play. 16 minutes into the match, Carqueijal FC's goalkeeper Tomás Aleixo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by António Assis. Tomás Aleixo made a fantastic save in the 24th minute, when António Assis sent off a good shot on target. In the 26th minute, Rui Teixeira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 27 played minutes, Carqueijal FC's António Antunes shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Mário Paiva came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Carqueijal FC reached it. After 28 played minutes SC Baiao got a freekick which was hit by André Ferreira. If Afonso Morais had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. António Assis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Tomás Aleixo made a huge save. In the 38th minute the ball was on its way in behind Carqueijal FC's goalkeeper Tomás Aleixo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. António Assis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

SC Baiao's Mário Paiva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Afonso Morais in the 58th minute of play. Tomás Aleixo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from António Assis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Afonso Morais in the 71st minute of play forced SC Baiao's goalkeeper Mário Paiva to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If José Fernandes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Tomás Aleixo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Fernandes, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. Pedro Ribeiro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 76th minute of the match, but Mário Paiva made a huge save. Carqueijal FC's Afonso Morais was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 79th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. José Fernandes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Tomás Aleixo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tomás Aleixo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from António Assis, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. If José Fernandes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mário Paiva made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pedro Ribeiro in the 95th minute. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
