A collision led to Mafomedes FC getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Tomás Martins hit a great ball. Raul Mota might have been able to make a better finish in the 16th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Manuel Cunha. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Raul Mota ran back to his position shaking his head. Sebastião Gonçalves struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Alexandre Baptista didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pragal. When Pragal's João Setúbal in the 23rd minute got a chance for a shot 23rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Mafomedes FC's goalie prevented a goal. The audience was convinced that Carlos Leão's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Manuel Cunha was relentless in the 45th minute of the game. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Carlos Leão stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
