In the 11thth minute of the game Afonso Tavares who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Zibreira's Carlos Gaspar was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 12 minutes into the game, one of Zibreira:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Carlos Gaspar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Afonso Tavares in the 18th minute of the match. Júlio Reis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by João Nascimento in the 26th minute of play forced Termo's goalkeeper Nuno Macedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. José Gonçalves could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Nuno Macedo made a huge save. If Júlio Reis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zibreira's Carlos Gaspar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Júlio Reis in the 41st minute of play. Afonso Tavares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Carlos Gaspar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Nuno Macedo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from José Gonçalves went, in the 54th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Carlos Gaspar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Afonso Tavares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cândido Ramos got free with Carlos Gaspar in the 61st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Carlos Gaspar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Afonso Tavares, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. The referee ignored Termo's protests and gave Alexandre Ferro a yellow card for diving instead. In the 87th match minute, Termo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alexandre Ferro to maneuver through the defense. Zibreira's José Gonçalves got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Carlos Gaspar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Afonso Tavares in the 90th minute of play. José Gonçalves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nuno Macedo having to interfere. Júlio Reis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Gaspar having to interfere.
