The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. André Andrade showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luís Bessa in the 3rd minute of the match. In the 8th minute the ball was on its way in behind SC Arques's goalkeeper André Andrade, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emílio Borba in the 11th minute of play forced Marialva's goalkeeper Pedro Macedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Amílcar Borges recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 23rd minute, Vítor Martins hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, SC Arques's Filipe Cabral got a free kick in the 24th minute. Domingos Setúbal hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. In the 29th minute Emílio Borba shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Macedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Luís Bessa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Marialva's supporters rose to their feet, but Luís Bessa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. André Andrade breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If André Santarém had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, SC Arques's Daniel Vieira got a free kick in the 66th minute. An unexpected shot in the 68th minute by André Santarém got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Luís Bessa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Luís Bessa managed to get in a good position for a shot. André Andrade stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luís Bessa's shot from short distance in the 75th minute. After 78 minutes, David Pinto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Marialva and the SC Arques players grew even worse after the yellow card. David Pinto hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. Pedro Macedo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amílcar Borges in the 81st minute of play. Amílcar Borges fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Macedo having to interfere. A collision led to Marialva getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Catarino Henriques hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Marialva's Cândido Aleixo got a free kick in the 86th minute. After some careless play in the SC Arques defense, André Santarém kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of André Andrade. The SC Arques fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that André Andrade should have stopped the shot. Luís Bessa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without André Andrade having to interfere. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
