With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ricardo Esteves in the 8th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gaspar Abreu saved SC Travassos from getting behind. 10 minutes in the game, Joaquim Aguiar fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Gaspar Abreu having to interfere. Ricardo Esteves might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gaspar Abreu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. SC Travassos's Gaspar Abreu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ricardo Esteves in the 11th minute of play. Ricardo Esteves's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gaspar Abreu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 12th minute of play. 13 minutes into the game, Mário Borges was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rio-Ave's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SC Travassos the free kick. 22 minutes into the match, SC Travassos's Sérgio Almeida sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that André Delgado narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Hampus Målare recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rio-Ave succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though SC Travassos had controlled the match.
