Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) FC Porto's Evandro Nogueira started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute, SC Silval's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Evandro Nogueira fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Evandro Nogueira managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Porto's supporters rose to their feet, but Evandro Nogueira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. João Machado breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Alexandre Vale had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alexandre Vale fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rui Vidigal having to interfere. Pedro Santarém fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rui Vidigal having to interfere. If Pedro Santarém had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 25th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Porto's goalkeeper Rui Vidigal, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Pedro Santarém had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of SC Silval booed when FC Porto was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aldo Resende didn't get a good kick on the ball. Abel Cardoso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 34 minutes in the game, Evandro Nogueira fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without João Machado having to interfere. 36 minutes into the match, FC Porto's Abel Cardoso sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that João Machado narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Pedro Santarém sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 40th minute Pedro Santarém shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rui Vidigal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 42nd minute, Abel Cardoso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Alexandre Vale fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rui Vidigal having to interfere. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Pedro Santarém was the one to do the kick off. SC Silval's João Machado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abel Cardoso in the 56th minute of play. After 59 played minutes FC Porto got a freekick which was hit by Aldo Resende. In the 60th minute of the match, Alexandre Vale got a very nice opportunity to score, but Rui Vidigal was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Rui Vidigal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pedro Santarém, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 64 minutes, Evandro Nogueira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Porto's supporters crossed their fingers, but Evandro Nogueira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 65 played minutes SC Silval got a freekick which was hit by Mariano Amaro. Alexandre Vale blasted a shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rui Vidigal having to make a save. If Pedro Santarém had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. João Machado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Evandro Nogueira in the 78th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in SC Silval's zone, Evandro Nogueira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. João Machado came out of the goal and Evandro Nogueira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. SC Silval's João Machado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Evandro Nogueira in the 84th minute of play. João Machado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Evandro Nogueira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Evandro Nogueira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. João Machado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 94 played minutes, FC Porto's Hamilton Bandeira shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper João Machado came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in FC Porto reached it. The SC Silval supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing SC Silval would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
