The audience was convinced that Domingos Torres's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Patrício Costa was relentless in the 9th minute of the game. Ilídio Salvado might have been able to make a better finish in the 10th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jaime Maia. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ilídio Salvado ran back to his position shaking his head. Jaime Maia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tobias Castanheira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Henrique Martins received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Patrício Costa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Sálvio Laureano fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored CR Ataense's protests and gave Sálvio Laureano a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of SC Atranco booed when CR Ataense was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sálvio Laureano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Domingos Torres received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Patrício Costa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jaime Maia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tobias Castanheira in the 29th minute of the match. In the 32nd minute, Álvaro Trindade made a precise shot to the right of Patrício Costa. CR Ataense's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Patrício Costa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Domingos Torres, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. If Álvaro Trindade had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 90th match minute, CR Ataense was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sálvio Laureano to maneuver through the defense. After 95 minutes, Aquilino Moniz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the CR Ataense and the SC Atranco players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 95 played minutes CR Ataense got a freekick which was hit by Aquilino Moniz. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched CR Ataense eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
