Rubim Palhares came out of the goal and Nuno Baptista tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Israel Guarda's late challenge caught a PeRiKa's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Israel Guarda helped the player get up and apologised. Israel Guarda hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. After 14 played minutes, PeRiKa's Pedro Galvão shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Rubim Palhares came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in PeRiKa reached it. Laureano Carvalhal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Flávio Campelo, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Vilartao FC's Flávio Campelo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Laureano Carvalhal. That made the score 1-0 after 22 minutes of play. Julião Aguiar got his second yellow card in the match during the 89th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 90th minute, Julião Aguiar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Flávio Campelo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carlos Baldaia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vilartao FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
