The tension between the Vale dos Reformados FC and the SC Palmeiros players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 11th minute the ball was on its way in behind SC Palmeiros's goalkeeper Inácio Barbosa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Adolfo Amaral came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the SC Palmeiros fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adolfo Amaral couldn't finish the play. Salvador Paião made an important save on a dangerous shot by Adolfo Amaral in the 23rd minute. In the 24th minute, Afonso Dantas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Inácio Barbosa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Vilanova in the 27th minute of play. Adolfo Amaral could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Salvador Paião made a huge save. After a defensive mix-up in SC Palmeiros's zone, João Vilanova stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Through an outstanding action, after 46 minutes, Salvador Paião successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and André Santos made a kick off. When Inácio Barbosa fell near the penalty area in the 53rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Palmeiros's protests and gave Inácio Barbosa a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to SC Palmeiros getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Inácio Barbosa hit a great ball. A hard shot by Nuno Sousa from long distance, 55 minutes into the match, got Inácio Barbosa's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Eusébio Valadão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. João Vilanova sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Inácio Barbosa was a little too slow when João Vilanova got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 62nd minute. The score was now 1-1. João Vilanova received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Inácio Barbosa came out and tried to block the shot, but João Vilanova slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 70th minute. The Vale dos Reformados FC fans' excitement grew in the 73rd match minute when Vale dos Reformados FC's João Vilanova looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 77th minute Adolfo Amaral shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Salvador Paião saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the final whistle sounded Vale dos Reformados FC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than SC Palmeiros.
