An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedro Almeida in the 16th minute of play forced Mafra FC's goalkeeper Armindo Vilela to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Armindo Vilela took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos Valente, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Tarcísio Regueira fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mafra FC's protests and gave Tarcísio Regueira a yellow card for diving instead. In the 26th match minute, Mafra FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tarcísio Regueira to maneuver through the defense. Mafra FC's Armindo Vilela played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Valente in the 27th minute of play. Nicolas Sobral hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Pedro Almeida in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Armindo Vilela saved Mafra FC from getting behind. In the 36th minute Pedro Almeida shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Armindo Vilela saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mafra FC's Armindo Vilela played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pedro Almeida in the 39th minute of play. Armindo Vilela showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Valente in the 40th minute of the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

In the 64th minute, Pedro Almeida got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Carlos Valente received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Armindo Vilela tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nicolas Sobral took the ball and in the 73 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Fernando Leão. Fernando Leão dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Fernando Leão showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tarcísio Regueira, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. A collision led to Mondego FC getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Joaquim Vale hit a great ball. Armindo Vilela was a little too slow when Pedro Almeida got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 86th minute. The score was now 1-2. If Germano Carvalhais had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Álvaro Pedroso did an outstanding performance 98 minutes into the match, when he by himself got past the opposing team's defense and with a quick scored 1-3 to the right of an irritated Armindo Vilela in the goal. The Mondego FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
