Nuno Gaspar came out of the goal in the 11th minute to try and stop a shot by Mondego FC's Carlos Valente. But to his dismay, Carlos Valente quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Carlos Valente managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mondego FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Carlos Valente was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nuno Gaspar breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Mondego FC's Cristóvão Araújo got a free kick in the 26th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Mondego FC's Pedro Almeida slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Nuno Gaspar. That made the score 2-1 after 38 minutes of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Diogo Figueiredo in the 41st minute of play forced Mondego FC's goalkeeper Fernando Leão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 44th minute, Diogo Figueiredo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Caxaria FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2.

After having played for 52 minutes, Afonso Pinheiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Caxaria FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Afonso Pinheiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Joaquim Vale kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. When Afonso Pinheiro came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the Caxaria FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Afonso Pinheiro couldn't finish the play. Diogo Figueiredo succeeded in the game's 70th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 3-3. Nuno Gaspar stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pedro Almeida's shot from short distance in the 73rd minute. Afonso Pinheiros short, quick shot in the 76thth minute got Fernando Leão to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Fernando Leão made an important save on a dangerous shot by Afonso Pinheiro in the 80th minute. The referee felt a red card was in order, 88 minutes into the game, when Rafael Macedo put in a rough tackle. The referee gave Mondego FC a penalty, 91 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Álvaro Pedroso, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Caxaria FC's Nuno Gaspar. 4-3. Caxaria FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
