The supporters of Futebol Clube do Porto booed when Penela FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fernando Madureira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vladimiro Teles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 10 minutes into the match, Penela FC's goal looked a bit too open when Henrique Barbosa came free, but Paulino Palhares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Valter Bento hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rodrigo Bulhosa during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 16th match minute, Futebol Clube do Porto was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rodrigo Bulhosa to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 18 minutes, André Carvalhais managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Penela FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but André Carvalhais was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpected shot in the 25th minute by André Carvalhais got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Fernando Madureira might have been able to make a better finish in the 29th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Raul Neves. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Fernando Madureira ran back to his position shaking his head. Penela FC's Paulino Palhares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Henrique Barbosa in the 34th minute of play. Valter Bento might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Raul Neves. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Valter Bento ran back to his position shaking his head. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and André Carvalhais made a kick off. If André Carvalhais had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 58 minutes into the match, Futebol Clube do Porto's goal looked a bit too open when André Carvalhais came free, but Raul Neves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 63rd minute André Carvalhais shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Raul Neves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Raul Neves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from André Carvalhais in the 64th minute of play. After some careless play in the Futebol Clube do Porto defense, Fernando Madureira kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Raul Neves. The Futebol Clube do Porto fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Raul Neves should have stopped the shot. In the 71st minute, Fernando Madureira made a precise shot to the right of Raul Neves. Futebol Clube do Porto's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. André Carvalhais fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raul Neves having to interfere. Futebol Clube do Porto's Raul Neves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valter Bento in the 78th minute of play. After 93 minutes of play, Penela FC's Nuno Quaresma made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Raul Neves was left in no man's land by his defense there! Raul Neves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from André Carvalhais, who was totally free with the ball in the 98th minute. Penela FC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
