Quintino Barroso was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Quintino Barroso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diogo Dantas in the 8th minute of the match. If Mateus Caires had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, SC Pondras's Miguel Fontes got control of the ball when Mateus Caires tried to sneak it across the goal line. Mateus Caires's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Miguel Fontes firmly grabbed it by the left post. A collision led to SC Pondras getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Gabriel Macedo hit a great ball. In the 19th minute Vladimiro Gameiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Miguel Fontes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, SC Pondras's Tomás Ramos got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Mateus Caires's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 26thth minute, Miguel Fontes skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. SL Benfica's Quintino Barroso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Inácio Barros in the 29th minute of play. Diogo Dantas might have been able to make a better finish in the 32nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Quintino Barroso. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Diogo Dantas ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 33rd minute, Inácio Barros left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The SC Pondras fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Mateus Caires received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Miguel Fontes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Inácio Barros managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Pondras's supporters rose to their feet, but Inácio Barros was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Quintino Barroso breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Mateus Caires struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Miguel Fontes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SL Benfica. The SL Benfica players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. SC Pondras were winning 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Diogo Dantas to make the kick off. When the match had gone on for 55 minutes, Vladimiro Gameiro put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Miguel Fontes. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Diogo Dantas managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Pondras's supporters rose to their feet, but Diogo Dantas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Quintino Barroso breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vladimiro Gameiro in the 63rd minute of play forced SC Pondras's goalkeeper Miguel Fontes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gonçalo Carvalho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 69th minute of the match, but Quintino Barroso made a huge save. Horácio Rodrigues kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. Miguel Fontes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vladimiro Gameiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Diogo Dantas in the 89th minute of play forced SL Benfica's goalkeeper Quintino Barroso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Inácio Barros got free with Quintino Barroso in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The SC Pondras supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing SC Pondras would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
