After 4 minutes, Viriato Ribeiro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Melides FC and the Chiqueiro players grew even worse after the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilson Salvado in the 13th minute of play forced Melides FC's goalkeeper Rodrigo Vieira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Rogério Moutinho kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Valentim Portugal. That made the score 1-0 in the 18 minute of play. In the 21st minute, Júlio Meira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 43 minutes, Júlio Meira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chiqueiro's supporters crossed their fingers, but Júlio Meira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Wilson Salvado recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rogério Moutinho to make the kick off. The supporters of Chiqueiro booed when Melides FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Filipe Coelho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rodrigo Vieira acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 56th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Isidro Palha. If David Amaro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Júlio Meira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Júlio Meira in the 73rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rodrigo Vieira prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 74 minutes into the match, Melides FC's goalkeeper Rodrigo Vieira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Wilson Salvado. David Amaro struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Valentim Portugal didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Melides FC. If Rogério Moutinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rogério Moutinho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Valentim Portugal read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 89th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Damião Carvalhal during the 90th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 90th match minute, Chiqueiro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Damião Carvalhal to maneuver through the defense. Chiqueiro's Valentim Portugal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Amaro in the 91st minute of play. After 95 minutes of play, Melides FC's Rogério Moutinho made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Valentim Portugal was left in no man's land by his defense there! The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Melides FC had won after a very even match.
