Through an outstanding action, after 12 minutes, Joaquim Miranda successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. When Ilídio Sabrosa fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Turma do Fumo's protests and gave Ilídio Sabrosa a yellow card for diving instead. After recieving a nice pass, SC Giestosa's Maurício Jesus tried to score from far away in the 15th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. SC Giestosa's Fabrício Costa got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Mateus Marinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gastão Santos's late challenge caught a Turma do Fumo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gastão Santos helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Turma do Fumo booed when SC Giestosa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gastão Santos didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to SC Giestosa getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Sílvio Maia hit a great ball. If Hermano Manso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hermenegildo Couto who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 34thth minute tested the skills of Joaquim Miranda when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Fabrício Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Giestosa's supporters rose to their feet, but Fabrício Costa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Roberto Noronha breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Hermano Manso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquim Miranda having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Hermenegildo Couto's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Joaquim Miranda read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 51st minute of play. Sílvio Maia kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. Hermano Manso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquim Miranda having to interfere. 59 minutes into the game, Fabrício Costa recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Roberto Noronha. Fabrício Costa showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-1. In the 62nd minute Hermenegildo Couto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquim Miranda saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hermano Manso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a defensive mix-up in SC Giestosa's zone, Hermano Manso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joaquim Miranda came out of the goal and Hermano Manso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Joaquim Miranda made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hermano Manso in the 80th minute of play. Turma do Fumo's Hermano Manso got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Turma do Fumo had held the ball for most of the match.
