The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Flávio Franco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Geraldo Castanheira in the 4th minute of the match. In the 9th minute Duarte Mota shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nivaldo Taborda saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 11th minute of the match TUCANO FUTEBOL CLUBE got a corner. Coimbrões's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Manuel Couto ran over to the corner to take the kick. A well-hit corner resulted in Duarte Esteves heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Flávio Franco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Geraldo Castanheira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Olívio Calçada's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 15thth minute, Flávio Franco skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 17 minutes into the match, Duarte Mota had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nivaldo Taborda. Coimbrões's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Duarte Mota was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. With a little luck, TUCANO FUTEBOL CLUBE's Flávio Franco got control of the ball when Olívio Calçada tried to sneak it across the goal line. Olívio Calçada sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 29 minutes into the match, TUCANO FUTEBOL CLUBE's goalkeeper Flávio Franco had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Olívio Calçada. Coimbrões's Nivaldo Taborda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Duarte Mota in the 31st minute of play. The supporters of TUCANO FUTEBOL CLUBE booed when Coimbrões was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amável Eiró didn't get a good kick on the ball. Geraldo Castanheira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Flávio Franco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Severino Calado stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Joel Esteves hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. After having played for 54 minutes, Severino Calado managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. TUCANO FUTEBOL CLUBE's supporters crossed their fingers, but Severino Calado was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 57 minutes into the game, Duarte Mota cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Nivaldo Taborda was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Through an outstanding action, after 66 minutes, Nivaldo Taborda successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Severino Calado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Nivaldo Taborda tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 70th minute the ball was on its way in behind Coimbrões's goalkeeper Nivaldo Taborda, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Severino Calado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 72 played minutes Coimbrões got a freekick which was hit by Amável Eiró. 76 minutes into the match, TUCANO FUTEBOL CLUBE's goal looked a bit too open when Olívio Calçada came free, but Flávio Franco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Duarte Mota received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Nivaldo Taborda tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Severino Calado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The long shot by Jorge Horta in the 86th minute really tested Nivaldo Taborda's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Duarte Mota received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Nivaldo Taborda tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Geraldo Castanheira in the 95th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Flávio Franco saved TUCANO FUTEBOL CLUBE from getting behind.
