An unexpected shot in the 12th minute by Sílvio Santos got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Afonso Faro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Timóteo Mourinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sílvio Santos got free with José Carneiro in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Estevão Garcia hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. In the 46th minute, Nuno Matos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

If Afonso Faro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 52 played minutes New City Club got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Candeias. 57 minutes into the match, New City Club's Estevão Garcia broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Sacados's José Carneiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abel Vieira in the 63rd minute of play. New City Club's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Duarte Vaz 66 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-1. If Duarte Vaz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Duarte Vaz in the 75th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Timóteo Mourinho saved New City Club from getting behind. In the 78th minute, Afonso Faro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Filinto Campelo's late challenge caught a Sacados's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. José Carneiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sílvio Santos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Sacados booed when New City Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Filinto Campelo didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Sacados had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
