Abel Vieira struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Aloísio Zarco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for New City Club. After 23 minutes, Gusmão Peixoto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Vagos and the New City Club players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 23rd match minute, SC Vagos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gusmão Peixoto to maneuver through the defense. After 23 played minutes, New City Club's Estevão Garcia shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Aloísio Zarco came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in New City Club reached it. After a defensive mix-up in New City Club's zone, Raul Malta stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Timóteo Mourinho came out of the goal and Raul Malta tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sílvio Santos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aloísio Zarco having to interfere. Joel Machado's late challenge caught a SC Vagos's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Joel Machado helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to New City Club getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Joel Machado hit a great ball. In the 69th minute, Laurentino Peseiro sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and New City Club's Timóteo Mourinho didn't even have to move. Timóteo Mourinho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mauro Bandeira in the 71st minute of the match. Abel Vieira charged in rather forcefully in the 78th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down.
