The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Xavier Ferro during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. With a little luck, Livramendo FC's Marco Fontes got control of the ball when Ramiro Sobral tried to sneak it across the goal line. Inácio Viegas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Nivaldo Zarco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marco Fontes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Afonso Bessa to strike the kick off in the second half. Vila Verde FC's Nivaldo Zarco proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save Vila Verde FC from getting a goal against them. After 59 minutes of play, Livramendo FC's Tomás Tavares made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nivaldo Zarco was left in no man's land by his defense there! Marco Fontes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leal lago, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 66th minute Leal lago shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marco Fontes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Livramendo FC booed when Vila Verde FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rodrigo Sabrosa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice moves Tomás Tavares could shoot a difficult shot in the 74th minute, which Nivaldo Zarco however easily saved by the left post. In the 78th minute, Livramendo FC's Rui Matias ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Nivaldo Zarco. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nivaldo Carreira couldn't finish the play. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Vila Verde FC lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
