S.MARTA's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cavalinhos the free kick. In the 4th match minute, S.MARTA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jaime Rocha to maneuver through the defense. Basílio Pinho acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 5th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Almiro Baldaia. Tomás Sales could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 7th minute of the match, but Basílio Pinho made a huge save. The supporters of Cavalinhos booed when S.MARTA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gil Lima didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jaime Rocha kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. Jorge Assunção's late challenge caught a S.MARTA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. Catarino Martins was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 16 minutes into the match. In the 16th minute, one of S.MARTA:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for S.MARTA. Afonso Leal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Basílio Pinho made an important save on a dangerous shot by Albérico Durães in the 25th minute. After 26 minutes, Emanuel Jesus mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the S.MARTA and the Cavalinhos players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 26th minute, Emanuel Jesus hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Basílio Pinho came out of the goal in the 29th minute to try and stop a shot by Cavalinhos's Wilson Carvalhal. But to his dismay, Wilson Carvalhal quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Tomás Sales could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Basílio Pinho made a huge save. After a defensive mix-up in Cavalinhos's zone, Afonso Leal stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bernardo Menezes came out of the goal and Afonso Leal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 34th match minute, Cavalinhos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tomás Sales to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the S.MARTA defense, Wilson Carvalhal kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Basílio Pinho. The S.MARTA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Basílio Pinho should have stopped the shot. Basílio Pinho made an important save on a dangerous shot by Albérico Durães in the 44th minute. After a defensive mix-up in S.MARTA's zone, Almiro Baldaia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Basílio Pinho came out of the goal and Almiro Baldaia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Wilson Carvalhal to strike the kick off in the second half. If Wilson Carvalhal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 53rd minute Wilson Carvalhal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Basílio Pinho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Basílio Pinho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Albérico Durães in the 55th minute of the match. 61 minutes into the match, Tomás Sales notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of S.MARTA's Basílio Pinho. Basílio Pinho was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Basílio Pinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Albérico Durães, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tomás Sales received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Basílio Pinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
